ARCAIN is a firm headed by two architects from IIT Kharagpur. Over the last 15 years we have been handling projects of various building-types & services in West Bengal.

Most of our colleagues, who collaborate with us on a project-basis, are architects & structural engineers, mainly from Jadavpur & BESU (previously Shibpur). Other than the design, draughting & supervision team, ARCAIN owes its existence equally to a coterie of skilled craftsmen for various kinds of work in our industry – starting from masons, fabricators, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc. to craftsmen for other kinds of specialized works. Familiarity with our work from our various consultancy projects over the years, paved the way for them to become a part of our present setup & today they are instrumental in allowing us to deliver our turnkey projects successfully and on time.

In a nutshell, our philosophy has always been to try & innovate – both functionally as well as aesthetically – while staying within the ambit of commonly available resources in our country – both in terms of material as well as labour & construction-practices. It implies, trying to satisfy our own urge, as designers, to create something innovative and different every time, while simultaneously striving to do complete justice to a client’s brief, by keeping in mind both the resources, as well as the constraints, which the project throws at us. And for us, ‘project’ means each and every job that we do – starting from the smallest designer furniture-unit to the biggest building we have designed/constructed so far.
